Maistrali is a family-run guesthouse that first opened in 1990. Since then, it has earned the trust of many visitors from Greece and abroad. The second generation of owners has fully renovated the property with care and enthusiasm, staying true to a philosophy of simplicity and good taste.
The beauty of sunrise and sunset sets the tone for a thoughtfully designed place with understated charm, where every window opens towards the blue waters of the Aegean and the warmth of the Greek sun.
Inside the guesthouse
The property comprises ten studios, each decorated with its own distinctive style. Comfortable and practical, they are fully furnished and equipped for your stay.
Our Studios
Each studio has an open-plan room with a double bed and a folding bed, with space for a travel cot if needed. The fully equipped kitchen includes cooking utensils, a refrigerator, electric cooking hobs, a toaster, a coffee maker and a kettle. The modern bathroom has a shower and a hairdryer. A 32-inch LCD television, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi are also provided.
The studios are located on the first and second floors; four of them feature balconies overlooking the vast Aegean, four have balconies, and two are situated on the ground floor with a sea view.
Outdoor spaces
Beyond the welcoming interiors, the outdoor areas offer more opportunities to unwind. On the ground floor, our white gazebo is dressed with light curtains and lanterns, with comfortable furnishings for breakfast, an afternoon coffee as the sun sets, or an evening drink in the moonlight.
Together, Maistrali’s indoor and outdoor spaces create a distinctive setting shaped by the warmth of Greek hospitality.
Location
Maistrali enjoys a convenient position in Skala Maries, both within the village and as a base for exploring Thassos. The guesthouse is 14 km from the port of Prinos and just 150 metres from the village centre. Here you will find a mini-market, a bakery and a pharmacy for everyday essentials, along with cafés and traditional tavernas. Three sandy beaches with clear blue water surround Skala Maries.
Start with Atspas, a small bay just 150 metres from the property, whose shallow turquoise waters appeal to visitors of all ages. We also suggest exploring Makryammos, Paradise Beach, Aliki, Glyfada and Golden Beach for their clear water and fine sand. Two particularly distinctive places are Giola, the natural rock pool, and Saliara, also known as Marble Beach, with its white marble pebbles.
The picturesque seaside town of Limenaria and lively Potos are also nearby, at 7 km and 11 km respectively. Both are lovely places for an evening stroll, a meal or a drink by the sea, and a look around the shops for souvenirs and local products.
Limenas, the island’s capital and lively heart, is 30 km from Skala Maries. It offers places to eat, evening entertainment and a variety of sights to explore. Among them is the ancient theatre, associated with summer concerts and theatrical performances as part of the Philippi festival, beneath the August full moon.
The mountain villages of Mikro and Megalo Kazaviti, Panagia, Theologos and Maries are also within driving distance. Their atmosphere may remind you of the Zagori villages: cobbled lanes, stone houses with wooden balconies and leafy squares shaded by plane trees create a landscape of exceptional beauty. We warmly recommend trying the goat dishes and other local specialities served in the traditional tavernas.
